From the moment I realized blogging is one of the ways to express my feelings and thoughts, without any hesitation, I quickly sign up for it and start writing as I have so many tales to tell…
Life as an International Medical University (IMU) ‘psycho’ student has so much to tell for the people I met and the experience I had filled my diary with a thousand sunsets (the last part doesn’t mean anything actually, just wanna make it rhymes… haha). From the Korean guy in biotech to the medicine senior whom I liked, and of course my fellow ‘psycho’ batch mates that brighten up my life; from the memorable orientations to my everyday interesting lectures, all of these really make my life in IMU worth my while.
Now here’s a little something you all need to know about IMU:-
- IMU was initially a shopping mall built in conjunction with the XVI Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11 to 21 September 1998. Since it was meant to be a shopping complex, to ‘transform’ it into an institution requires lots and lots of renovations. That‘s why there are times the noise interruption can be really disturbing. I hope that it’ll be over soon though…
- Another reason why IMU needs renovation is because IMU itself is expanding. Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing were the existing courses until 14 July 2008, came rushing in 5 new programs including Medical Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and last but not least… PSYCHOLOGY! (hohoho…) So we are basically the pioneers of these whole new courses and it does feels good to be called one, haha.
- What do you have in mind when you heard about the word MEDICAL University? I bet you’ll think it’ll be a professional and serious place where there’s no entertainment, having tons of nerdy people wearing thick glasses and their nose stuck in a book, am I right? Well… you’re totally wrong about that! Alright, despite the fact that we DO have dress codes which required us to wear formal during lecture hours. Other than that, boys and girls in IMU are hot and sizzling; the events held by the clubs and societies are completely out of this world! You’ll have food fair right in the middle of the atrium with students wearing traditional clothes selling a variety of food while performances will be going on to fire up the atmosphere; you’ll also be having live concerts by the members of music and performance club presenting awesome songs during your meal to cook up your appetite, etc. That’s why I said, life will never be boring in IMU…
- Although just the building (appearance) itself you can say that it’s small, but what it (all other aspects) actually contains is unspeakably BIG. Hence, “never judge a book by its cover.”
